Parleys
Elevations, slope angles and aspects:
5500-8300', angles approaching 40°, south and north facing.
Avalanche activity:
New snow sluffing on shady slopes, mainly northeast facing, over 35° and down off the ridges. .
Slopes skied:
Northeast facing Grandeur peak, two runs in drainages to the east, descending to the jeep trail and out to Mt. Aire estates ranch exit in Parleys.
Snow conditions:
Good snow cover on the south facing Church Fork trail. South facing has a crust under a couple of inches of recent snow, most pronounced on southwest facing aspects. Wind affect along the ridges on the south, well down into drainages on north facing. 4-6" recent snow over a firm crust on the shady side. Recent storm snow on the shady side is faceted, leading to sluffing and sand boxing on the climbs.
Weather:
Overcast , with low clouds and snow flurries throughout the day. Light winds from the north. Cool temperatures.
Evaluation:
Snow is stable, other than loose snow sluffing on steeper shady aspects.
